First here's a link to the camera's manual:
http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/cp_man/CP4300man.pdf
Some tips for night time shooting (I'm not a pro, but do have a grasp of basic digital photography):
1. Play around with exposure compensation (pg. 51). Try it out during daytime to get a feel for it and look at the difference on the computer. For example yesterday some pics were over exposed due to bright street lights. I had to lower the setting to -0.3
2. Play around with ISO (pg. 53). 100 yields the best quality but longer shutter speeds, 400 will be noisy (try turning on the noise removal feature - pg. 116) but require lower shutter speeds.
3. Play with different light metering modes (pg. 99). Matrix (default) may not work for what you're trying to do. Try center-weighted.
4. Play around with manual aperture (pg. 107). Maximum aperture (low f-stop number) will result in less lower shutter speed and mimimum aperture (high f-stop number) will result in higher shutter speed. Google the term "depth-of-field" for more info. Yesterday my aperture setting was at 3.6 for most of the time.
5. For any shutter speed faster than 1/60s use a tripod (or try your best to hold the camera really still). Yesterday my shutter speeds ranged from 1/4 s to 1 full second.
6. I would let the camera determine the optimum shutter speed based on the ISO, +/- (exposure compensation) and aperture (f-stop).
Go take some pics and let me know how it goes.

I couldn't find the box/manual because I recently moved. I'm gonna look through this a little and then go find a quiet/dark place and play around with it. I'll post the results which are hopefully good!

now I'm very satisfied with mine. I just want to learn more and more about photography. Thanks again... I'm off to take pictures!

That's exactly how I treat it. I have a compact flash card big enough that my battery will die before I can fill the card. I try to take too many pictures and go through them after to see what I got. Each time I take pictures I'm figuring out things like I did wrong and what I can do to improve them. Thanks again, I just posted the pics and you can actually see my car this time instead of a black spot ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Do you think it's bad that my license plate is on here. I know some care, some don't. I figure mine is easy to remember anyway and I probably **** off more people on the road then on here
