P0322 Confusion!
OK, I need help! Now be nice, I know I left myself open.there. I have am '04 A4 Cabrio (VIN: WAUDT48H14K008402) . It is in fantastic condition, and a dream to drive. 3.0 liter, automatic, about 150K. Last fall, I was driving and the AC compressor pulley died. Well I replaced the compressor, AND THE NEXT DAY THE ALTERNATOR DIED! So I replaced the alternator. All was fine. Then out of the blue, I started getting Cam Position Sensor SELs. So I had my son who is an Audi tech, R&R my timing belt & water pump with a Continental kit. I also have him replace all of my CPMs. While replacing them, he found several breaks in my wire harness, so I replace my entire wire harness with a replacement harness. I checked the entire harness before I installed it to confirm it was good. It was out of a very low mile car that had been rear ended, and it had been sitting in a barn for years, waiting to be rebuilt, but the owner sold the property. and left it behind, so the new owners started selling/parting it out... Anyways, I love the car, and want to start driving it again, so...
AFTER installing the harness, I got no codes, except one! I get the code P0322. NO SIGNAL ENGINE SPEED SENSOR! All fuses are good. I have good grounds. What else could it be? I have just put in a new crank position sensor, even though the old one checked out OK. Please advise any thoughts. Thanks.

Assuming you have double checked seating of the connectors and unless you got an Audi OEM part, put the old one back in. Sometimes "replacement" OEM aren't really replacement.

Do you mean the sensor somewhat above the driveshaft flange on the driver's side? I changed mine when chasing a fault code, which unfortunately I can't look up because last October a criminal broke into my A4 and stole all of my car maintenance records (including those of a newly-bought '86 560SL Benz. But I digress,, Does your car start, with extended cranking? Does it idle high and run with diminished power?

Turbo510, he stole your maintenance records? Maybe he was a guerrilla mechanic who steals records, then slinks back under cover of darkness and fixes everything that needs it? Naah

Maybe he had a toilet moment and need papers urgently !!!! But seriously, who the heck breaks into a car and steal papers, especially if it's not vehicle title?
