Default PAGING 821·dtw (Greg), i hear you're a miracle worker with suspensions!

here's the thing. i had the oem non-sport suspension. i went to the factory sport suspension and it looks pretty high in the rear, as i've bitched about before. i replaced just the spring and the shocks, nothing else. this bump stop things, could this be the reason it looks high? should i replace them with the sport bump stops, or is it all part of the shock? please help!

Default you should replace the rear non-sport stops with sport stops. Is the ride bouncy/harsh at all?

How high is high? With OEM sport, I'd guess you should be at 25.5" or so fender to floor on the 17" stock sport wheels.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/514985.phtml</a

Default that is high. Where did you get your suspension from? used?

I would certainly suggest the new stops. Although with that height - you might have other issues. How is the front?

Default When Greg and I installed my sport OEM stops in the rear,

it was clear that both ends were molded to either hold the dust cover or lock the stop/cover up into the mounting nest at the top. Just cutting would require you to attach the dust cover another way, or allow it to sit freely on the shock. I preferred to use the sport OEM stops rather than making a tradeoff.

Technically, you could just cut it back and it would still work, but it wouldn't stay in place as designed.

Default yeah - just the rears - the fronts are the same.

Desi - you could cut them by 3/4" if you'd like (esp since you are getting it installed this Friday). I'd suggest you cut a middle section out so it matched the sport ones - although you could shave part off the stop. Leave the lower collar section alone as it needs to slip back in the dust cover sleeve.

Default i got it used. i called the dealer to see if they were in fact sport springs, and he....

said they were because they had pink stripes on them. would changing the bump stop lower the ride height at all?

Default you may have issues beyond the stops

factory sport suspension differs between the different models and have different spring rates based on the car's body style (avant vs. sedan) as well as the car's engine type (1.8T vs 3.0).

Just because the springs and shocks are "OEM sport suspension" doesn't mean that you have the correct parts.

Reconfirm that the springs are, in fact, the correct ones for your specific application.
