I never knew the actual innards of the caliper.
Now to your problem, I highly doubt that its the spring, but it may very well be. Maybe, if you now know how to put it together, take the good one apart and see the difference.
As for the spring...I'm sure you can find one here. If you do, and need it shipped to Canada, let me know. They are local to me. I order things today and they messenger it to me at work next day. I can then throw it in the envelope and send your way.<ul><li><a href="http://www.mcmaster.com/param/asp/PSearch2.asp?reqTyp=parametric&act=psearch& ;FAM=compression&session=desc=Springs;compress ion&sesnextrep=672623270833966&ScreenWidth =1024&McMMainWidth=812">McMaster</a></li></ul

It may also be the metal housing that got distorted when I did the vise thing or maybe it was already like that from the start. Anyway I think I'll need a new unit (or new caliper) because the housing is now pretty screwed up (due to the fact that I used a shop press instead of snap ring pliers).
I'll try contacting Lucas (I guess it's the brake manufacturer, the name is written on the caliper) and see if I can order a unit seperately, if not, I already found a used rear caliper on car-part.com for about 100 bucks (that sucks but at least I learned something new!).
I don't dare taking the other one apart to compare because I'm afraid to end up with 2 useless calipers on my hands!!!
