Default UPDATE: I think I'm starting to get the same symptoms while in 3rd gear (between 2-3K rpms).

Fooking lovely.

Default Sorry to hear that, but I'm not surprised.

Regarding the post above, "Tried it...", your clutch IS slipping. It slips briefly, then grabs, then slips, then grabs, etc. slipping and grabbing rapidly in succession. The defect from an assembly or parts specification error will only get worse without corrective attention. Eventually, the clutch won't be able to transmit any torque at all. Hopefully, the installer will be able to sort the problem out quickly.

Default How does a new SB OFE SS clutch slip from the get go? I mean a lot of BT guys run it w/o problems.

Could it be some sort of an installer error?

Thanks for your ongoing help.

Default It's either incorrect parts for your application, or installer error, incorrect assembly. EDIT.

Have you asked SB about this problem?
Speculating, either the pressure plate is not applying even pressure all around the clutch disk, or the thickness of the clutch disk or pressure plate is not consistant. A defect in the pressure plate spring or release mechanism could be involved. An assembly error where the pressure plate in not bolted down evenely all around is possible. Warpage is also possible. (but unlikley in your situation.)

Default My shop ordered the clutch from SB and installed it. I'll ask them to contact SB in regards to this.

Thanks. I'll keep you updated.

Default Here's something that was posted on AZ in regards to this problem.

"Driveshaft center support bearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not clutch not motor mounts not any thing else! Check that bearing in the middle of the driveshaft that supports it. It should have little if no play up and down."

Any thoughts?

Default Yes, that was mentioned in the begining of the discussion, and still merits a checkout.

But, is less likley considering the nature of your symptoms as reletive to torque and rpm. A bad joint would vibrate more or less at all torque levels. (It was assumed that the driveshaft support is grouped with the universal joints) and axle CVs. And would not be a gear dependant symptom.

Default Gotcha. I'm just trying to amass as much info from various sources as possible.

I'll get everything checked.

Me being an uber n00b when it comes to the inner workings of the car, didn't realize the guy from AZ and you were talking about the same components.
