Default More than likely. Why would you want to stick that much cash into a leased car if

you cannot turn around and re-sell the mod. I can see doing wheels and chips and stuff like that because you can always re-use it or sell it once the lease is up. Painting parts of the car however would be a total loss of money and the dealership may charge you..

if you plan on doing that sort of mod, plan on selling the car and buying out your lease at or prior to the maturity. (check if your contract lets you, in California always doable) i have done lots of mods to leased cars, the trick is to be sure the car is re-sellable, you plan on getting rid of it/buying it out at maturity and you have the time to sell it on your own. the bank will definately charge you A LOT if you return it to them with mods.

of course you will!!! you're just renting the car really. Any mods including chipping is bad news.

Default That depends, actually....

I did a fair number of mods to my 99.5 2.8qms, including painting the engine covers, clear corners, aftermarket exhaust (via cutting the pipe), and more, and i wasn't penalized a bit. I think as long as the mod is done well, and looks good, they're really not going to care or probably even notice

Default My Mod experience on a leased car

I Leased a 99 Passat GLX...and when its time to surrender the car this year to the Dealership so I can re-lease on a new Passat, the original dealer was going to penalized me big for putting Kamei and Zender Body Kit...Plus 17" Allesios rims and sport tires,in Lieu of the stock 15"s it came with ...so much for upgrade perks!

I was so disgusted with them...I decided to Ask other VW dealership if they would give me a better offer on my leased 99 Passat....When one dealer mentioned.."No Problem,in fact,Since your under VW Credit Program,..you can even easilly go lease an AUDI or PORSCHE".....Audi?....
To make the long story short, thats how I discovered the new slick looking 2002 A4...the deal was so good since they credited me for my Passat mods as upgrades...I decided to buy my 1.8T A4

If you're buying at end of lease, don't worry about it...if not, you must be rich
