Parktronic (from the 2002s)
I did a search on the forum for the work "Parktronic" I came up with zilch. I can't believe their hasn't been any discussion about Parktronic?
Can someone else please try a search on Parktronic and see if they get different results?
Thanks.

I think very few people got that option
It wasn't even available to me when I ordered by 2003 3.0. I do believe it's a "late introduction" option. Same thing as the sun shades. I think very few people have them.

I think it's annoying - drove an X5 with it - reminds me of a garbage truck backing up....
the sound..not the truck =P

audi lexicon

Here is some Parktronic info I found on Google, this says it all. :)

Parktronic works great. Sunshades are very welcome here in CA.

I'd like to try intalling the same parktronic system that Audi uses from the factory.
By acquiring all of the necessary parts.
Actually I'd just like to know if it is possible (what would it take).

I think you'd need
obviously the sensors, but also the wire that connects to the reverse sensor. I'm assuming that the same sensor that turns on the reverse lights is what would activate the parktronic. I think you'd also need the special speaker inside the car. When I had an A6 loaner for 2 1/2 weeks, it had Parktronic, and the beep would come out of the rear of the car when I'd shift into reverse. In fact, if I recall correctly, there was a beep on the right side and the left side so you could distinguish where the sensors were picking up an obstruction.

For those of you who aren't bi-lingual
The Parktronic system is had at the front and rear bumper ultrasonic sensors, which determine the distance to an obstacle. At the front bumper 6 sensors are attached, to the rear four. The signals of the sensors function within a range starting from 1,20 m to approx.. 15 cm at the cars near. The distance to the obstacle is indicated by optical diodes in the interior to the driver. Starting from a distance of 35 cm PTS gives a warning clay/tone. With distance decreasing further these warning tones take place in shorter distances to the steady tone with 15 cm. The system can be also deactivated over a switch in the center console. (photos: DC/above warning diodes; down PTS connection diagram)
