Passenger side of car soaked in water/puddles

Passenger side of car soaked in water/puddles
*believe* a leaf caused this, and i *believe* i cleared that leaf, however, there is still a puddle of water UNDER THE CARPET somewhere all along the passenger side.
my questions are: could a leaf cause this? (it was near the air filter) and also how exactly can i drain that water thats swooshing around underneath the carpets?
