Default PCV question

I've been burning oil and getting blue smoke from the exhaust, and according to a compression test all cylinders are running good. The car is at 95k and I doubt the rings have gone and I only get smoke after a while not at startup so probably not valve seals.

Today, after the engine was at 90c (before overheating though) I removed the oil cap, and got a lot of air escaping and steam. This means my crankcase ventilation is bad, but what I want to know is what parts should I change/clean to rectify this?

Default blowby - yuck

could be the turbo is spittig oil into the engine bay. this degrades the effective octane and does other nasty things to your motor.

you'd probably see alot of oil at the lowest point (intercooler hose?) if this was true.

i'd check the turbo first, good reason to upgrade to k04

its not uncommon to see a wisp of blue smoke on a 95K 1.8T on startup, especially if alot of chipped miles.

but constant blue smoke will ruin your cat $$$ and smells ghetto.

it can be cyclical process as oil feeding back into the intake of the engine will cause detonation which will eventually break the pistons/ringland so better figure out what the root cause is.

if your PCV was totally clogged this kind of pressure would blow the valve cover gasket and rear main seal in no time.

See Pic,
The item circled. Also check the crankcase pressure regulator valve, -3-. Carefully examine all the hoses for tight connections, and tears or other defects.
