once it is finally dead it will throw the maf code...otherwise you may get low readings until then..
just take it to autozone if you dont have a vag. see what codes it throws. once you get the codes, post them here and some one with a bentley can tell you more. why do you suspect a bad maf?

I have vag, and I read Mass Flow, and found out it is not stable and only overboost code was thrown.
In hight RPM with higher gear my turbo's boost is not stable.. ( this is my Sympthom)

Sounds exactly like when my three mafs died in the B5. boost leak should be consistently less boost
when my maf died it was a shuttering feeling. looks like you need yourself a new maf.
