Default Pirelli nightmare today... lesson learned....

I made it a half block out of my garage this morning and realized I had a flat (a screw). Pulled over, checked it out and called AAA for some assistance. The wait was to be "2 hours." So I figured maybe I could nurse the car over to America's Tire Co., which is about 2 short blocks from where I was parked. I made it to the tire place doing 10 mph on side streets (took about 4 minutes). Two guys inspected the tire after it was off and said the tire was shot and they can't plug it because I drove on it. He showed me the heat marks (light grey in color) on the inside of the tire. I guess once that part of the tire heats up, it's weakened to the point where the DOT does not allow them (or any store) to repair the tire (liability issues). So I am thinking, great, I gotta pop for a new Pirelli after only 5500 miles. Turns out they had a used Dunlop Sport, which we put on the spare, and the original (new) spare became my new rear tire. In the end, I was $20 poorer, which is not as bad as I thought it was going to turn out. Lesson learned... **YOU CANNOT DRIVE ON A FLAT FOR EVEN A VERY VERY SHORT DISTANCE... NOT EVEN AT 10 MPH FOR TWO SHORT BLOCKS!*** Never heard of that before, but now I know.

That's why you have a full size spare wheel/tire.

Default should always have a 12V pump in the car. If it is a slow leak, you can at least fill it...

with enough air to properly make it to a shop of some sort.

That was option #1...if it wouldn't have taken AAA over an hour to give me a hand.
