Default plugs and timing belts

2001 2.8 had a scheduled plug change of 40,000 miles and timing belt 105,000. Now my new 3.0 gets new plugs at 35,000, and timing belt at 75,000. Aren't these plugs platinum? Every other manufacturer has 100,000 mi. tune ups. and a $1000 timing belt at 75,000, talk about making up for giving you scheduled maintanence. these are the things that aren't in the brochures or the website.

Default I think you want to do the timing belt for sure lest you want to pay for a new engine

And the plugs are cheap and quick to do by yourself (or if you are mechanically challenged you can ask Audiers in your area to help you).

not debating the need, just commenting on the cost of maintaining the vehicle...with all the technology out there, the car should be more maintance free for a longer time interval. I can change the plugs, audi will do the first one for free at 35,000 miles. Most engine designs incorporate timing chains instead of fiberglass belts.

Default Well, 1.8T isn't exactly new by any standard...

But all the newer Audi engines have chains (3.0 for instance). What strikes me is thinking about this is that the price between the 1.8T and the 3.0 is less than it appears if you count in the higher maintenance costs of the 1.8T. A fellow -->AUDIER<-- did the belt job at the Audi dealer for about US $600 including parts. I still like the 1.8T anyway.

Default 2004 scheduled maintanence

maintanence book says its a timing belt on the 3.0 and needs to be changed at 75,000, unless i'm missing something.

Default What gave me out, eh????

I don't see too many silver SLs on B6s and those 19 lbs for the 18'' are giving me wet dreams (yup, this is a sickness - audius droolitus). I think I'd look good on denim. Crazy as I am (buying a new house right now and will be real low on cash), I think I'll get them sooner rather than later. Well, I'm sure you'll see it here. Cheers bud!

Default another clean admirer. . . . . makes me want rimz too!

but if i get new rims I want 18s and they must be forged. . . .don't have the champagne HRE budget so I've gotta find sumthin else. . . .not sold on Volks appearance but they ARE light. . . .hesitating on iforged due to perceived poor customer service. . .
