On the heels of yesterday's install thread I'm sold and just need to decide Ipod or mini.
Oh, and also WHERE is the best place to get one?
I've STFA for install pics and write-ups. Many pics are no longer working but I did find the following thread. So in addition to yesterday's, anyone interested could also benefit from this one.
and don't tell me to get this color!!! ;-)

and I ordered it 3 weeks ago. I'm in no rush (it's really for my wife), but if you want one now you have a much better chance of getting a regular iPod.
BTW, I went w/ silver. Hmmm...I must really like that color or something...

with the mini. I had the 30GB ipod, and it wasn't as practical as I thought. A little big to be taking everywhere with you in the car, on your bike, skiing, gym, home etc. When it was stolen I got a 80GB hard drive (for $115) and an Ipod mini ($250) - much less in total than a 40 GB ipod, and twice the storage space. My powerbook is only 20GB and I have about 25 GB of music right now which represnts about a third of the CDs I own - yes, ripping from your cds does take an large investment of time) 4GB is actually a lot of music, even sampled at 196kps - so much that I have yet to change the contents of my ipod mini. The mini is much more manageble in the car and less conspicuous. People do love to steal ipods - the less visible the better.
I have blue, but it is pastel blue, so if you are worried about your manliness, go for silver. But silver is the most common.

and don't pay sales tax - unless you want a laser inscription, in which case pay sales tax and buy direct from apple.

but it still won't hold ALL my music. . . . wifey says I don' need to take it ALL with me anyway. . .says the mini is "enough". usual wifey type stuff.
I'm wonderin more about the differences in controls between the full size and the mini. control differences, interface/menu differences.. . . y'know, ease of use type stuff.

smaller screen. I must reiterate, the mini is fantastic -so sall, fits easily into a pocket. Same functionality. 4GB can last you a full month long car trip. Get a big hard drive and a mini.
