Pop rocks in exhaust post magnaflow 14851

Hey guys done a ton of research and called a bunch of exhaust shops. And no one can seem to pinpoint my problem.
So here goes,
Bone stock exhaust everything sounded fine.
Replaced stock mufflers with magnaflow 14851 and had an instant pop rock sound when I would get on the throttle. I wanted a little deeper tone so I removed the resonator ( I knew that would make the crackle louder). I got the deeper tone but also got the louder crackle as expected.
My question is what's causing the crackle? Magnaflow says they don't know what's causing it but they don't think it's the mufflers. I tend to agree since the sound comes from both mufflers and has been there since I got them installed. All exhaust is stock except mufflers and straight pipe in place of resonator.
2002 3.0L Quattro.
Thanks in advance
