Default Is it possible to program any 2004 1.8t ECU to work with my car?

Or does it have to have a specific PN? Since the route I plan to go with the car require's a chip and a tuner that isn't exactly close, I'd like to have a spare ECU just in case. I found one through car-part.com at a local salvage yard. PN is 8E0909518AK. If anyone could confirm that this will work with the car I would appreciate it. And I know I'll have to take it to the dealer to have them code the keys and whatever into it.

Car is a 10/03 build 2004 1.8t 6MT, no real options lol. TIA

You might want to check that your box ends with an AK.

you'll have to have the immobilizer cloned or code each ecu at dealer every time you want to swap it

Every time you swap it? That sorta makes the 2 ECU thing a royal PITA.

Default Oh I was under the assumption that you needed it coded once, but could switch in and out as needed

Isn't that why people have spare ECU's?

Not that many B6 people (if any) have spares ECU. Swapping ECUs is primarily a B5 thing.
