Default Are you sure? plastic key != valet key. There are three types of keys:

1) Regular keys with transmitter (you get two of these).
2) Emergency plastic key (you get one of these).
3) Valet key (you get none of these).

They valet key does NOT have a transmitter and it can only open the doors and start the car. I think it CAN open the glove box (any VW or Audi key can open the glove box sadly...) but the valet key cannot unlock the rear passenger seat fold down, nor can it open the trunk.

The plastic key can do everything the regular key can do. It just doesn't have a transmitter.

Default curious

if the valet key allows me to open the door and move the car, can't i just unlock the trunk from inside the cabin?

you can lock the trunk from the outside, which will disable the trunk release.

Default I never tested that.. but I have a Passat as well and my Passat key opens my glove box.

So I figure the glove box is not a key'd lock. Any thing that fits into the sleeve will unlock it. I could be wrong.

Default Ok...that just seems incredibly stupid.

Why have the lock there in the first place? Haha...I have to go check this now.

WINNAR! The least-known feature of the A4 is that keyhole.

Default Well--speaking of stupid

I got down there and realized I only have one VW switchblade type key, and it fits--you guessed it--the A4. So...I concluded absolutely nothing, except that a screwdriver that fits into the glovebox hole does not unlock it.
