PP 8500 hardwire installation help

(For reference I have a 2003 A4 1.8T)
I know there are tons of posts/articles on how to hardwire the 8500/V1. I've looked through most of them and have gotten a very basic idea on how to do it. I think the best way to do it(or it seems that way to me) is to bring the wire down the A-pillar into the fuse box.
I just have some questions and would greatly appreciate if someone would take the time to answer them.
1) How exactly do you go about opening the fuse-box door?
2) I noticed one of the articles saying to use fuse #27, and another #25? Which one would it be?
3) From my understanding, the 8500 hardwire that you purchase from Escort comes with a 'spade connector' that you can just 'plug in' directly into the fuse, if I'm not mistaken(after you ground it of course into the screw at the bottom of the fuse box?). Is this correct?
Am I missing anything critical?
Thanks in advance.

1. Look at the fuse door...There is couple of detents on the edges...Just use your door key there to pry open there...Not hard at all.
2. Not sure which one but this is the one I used...It is switched "on" w/ the ignition.

3. Yes.
Missing anything critical?...Not really, but make sure you fuse your detector seperately and you should be all set.
Hope this helps

protect that equipment you just attached...That equipment needs to be "fused seperately" with some sort of in-line fuse...This is usually provided in some form w/that equipment...Either in a cigarette lighter plug or in a hardwire kit...If not, get one at Radio Shack...They can help you w/one.
