Default Problem with vacuum lines?

Searched... didn't find anything with these symptoms.

Symptoms:
1. Power lacking at mid/high rpms (3000+)
2. Hissing sound at these rpms
3. Engine seems not to run smoothly under medium/hard acceleration.

Car: 2002 A4 1.8TQM, APR chip, 75k miles

Any thoughts?

You sure it's not a failing coilpack?

The CEL hasn't come on, but I'm going to run a VAG-COM check tonight.

In the past, when 2 of the coils failed, there was no hissing sound, which is why I suspect an air line is leaking.

Default I've had the same symptoms that you've described and no CEL.

Turned out to be a failing coilpack. Vag-comm scan also showed a misfire on that cylinder (no CEL).

Agree. That's another possibility. You're still running an OEM DV?

Default I replaced it with a 710N before I chipped.

I'll VAG it and post the results tomorrow.

Thanks for the ideas!

Default Check that there's not a leak somewhere, sometimes the hoses rip...

Also, make sure your TIP is seated on the turbo tightly, as that would create the "hissing noise". Generally if the vacuum hose has ripped completely, the car will be undrivable b/c it will not be able to hold the idle RPMs and the car will just stall.

Soudns like a vac leak - check the L-hose near the firewall driver's side.

2nd. other hoses could be the culprit also, or cracked check valves.
