Default I think 30 seconds is a pretty standard cool down time if you've driven longer than 30 minutes or

driven particularly hard.

Default For lack of any better gauges, I wait until the coolant is at the middle...m..

before I really push the car. To cool down, a few minutes of easy driving and/or idle. I have to drive a fair distance of subdivision streets before getting to my driveway, so that forces me to get a nice cool down driving at 25mph.

Default ya, but you really cant go by the coolent temp gauge in our cars...it heats

up so quickly, so its not a really good indicator to whether or not your car is "warmed up" properly. You really need to to look at the oil temp...but thats the gauge we dont have!! lol

Default Warm-up takes much longer than people realize. With oil temp guage, it takes a good 10mi, not water

water temp comes up quicker by design feature. The oil temp is what matters and some say it takes half an hour to reach full temp. Shut-down is no biggie if you drive slowly up to the destination.

Default Agreed. I hear ya. It's not like I push the car that much, given that...m...

75% of the time I'm driving to/from work in traffic.
