Pulsing or Surging Turbo

Pulsing or Surging Turbo
I apologize if you saw this in the B5 forum...I thought I was here.
I have a bit of a problem...or at least I think it is. I apologize if I sound like a newbie, but I have had my '04 A4Q for about six or seven weeks. At about 1500 miles (five weeks), the CE light came on and when I took it in, they said that the Turbo failed. They replaced it, and gave me the car back about 1.5-2 wks ago. Since then, I've noticed a pulsing or surging in the acceleration when I really get on the gas (after the turbo kicks in).
This wasn't there when I test drove the car OR after I took it off the lot...it has only presented itself after they replaced the turbo. I am wondering what is causing this...does anyone have any idea? Like I said, I'm new to all this audi and turbo stuff, so plain english would be preferable, because most of these posts go right over my head.
Thanks,
Chris

do you know why it failed in the first place? did they say?
thats kind of weird...
but, take it back and have the service manager ride with you...
they'll probably say try different gas. try chevron or some octane booster.

no reason before...at least not that I heard or understood
no...they didn't say before why it failed other than that it was a faulty part. I will definitely take it back...It's very easy to replicate...it happens every time I give it some serious gas. I use 92octane everytime I fill up. Could that NOT be high enough?
Thanks for the advice.

92 Octane is fine...
My salesperson told me they had a client whose A4 was acting up. They told her to switch from Premium to Regular gas, and it took care of her problem. I actually was told this after asking what type of gas Audi recommends. I don't know what was in my first tank, but the second tank I filled with 87, and I don't experience your same problems (but I don't go over 4kRPM yet). And before I get flamed, I will use 93 octane for now on...not because I have to, but because in my mind, after reading everyone's arguments, it seems like the right thing to do. Maybe your ECU is whack, I dunno, good luck.
