But i could be wrong! And like they said if you live in cali, then the only reason for quattro is resale. Or if your going to mod the hell out of it, then you'll need the extra traction. Stock or just with a chip/exhaust frontrac's plent of traction.

Given that a bulk of my driving is on the lovely SoCal freeways, a stick shift was not an option. I got an automatic, & the 2WD (i.e., multitronic/ CVT) 3.0 was faster (in a straight-line) than the quattro (tip) 3.0. Freeway driving is basically in a straight-line.
Will the quattro handle better? Yes, especially in poor traction conditions. Get it if you think you need it. I may have been more inclined to get quattro if I could get a CVT quattro. A lot of you guys say Audi = quattro. For me, Audi = multitronic. This tranny has made me almost not miss the stick shift. It doesn't surprise me that Audi is hoping the CVT will increase the appeal of Audi in warm weather places like SoCal, where quattro is less of a selling point.

I love quattro, but I love the CVT more. I hate snow, it doesn't snow and doesn't rain much where I live, so quattro isn't that beneficial. I get to enjoy the benefits of the CVT virtually all the time. Not so with quattro. It's great when you're accelerating and traction matters, otherwise it's just a lot of extra weight. If you drive hard and accelerate hard often, the benefits of quattro are more noticeable, but if you're not a racy driver and you live in a dry, warm climate, it's not worth the extra weight and expense. A quattro-less Audi is still a wonderful car.

the frontrak manual or cvt is lighter and goes
0-60 in 7.8 seconds
But the manual 1.8t quattro goes 0-60 in 7.9 seconds despite the extra weight of quattro
Something's not right.
