To quattro or not to quattro

Quattro is the single reason you want an Audi instead of a BMW.
In no particular order you want Quattro because 1) FWD isn't any fun to drive hard 2) Four wheel power slides are fun 3) It makes it easier to go fast, because you can enter corners too slow and accelerate harder through them without loosing traction than you could in a 2wd car 4) It lets you park in snow banks, which is useful when the ski area parking lots are full.

I just order my A4 last Saturday. I had the same decission problem as you did. So, i ask this forum for advise and got a lot of good ones.
But i think the best advise is going to be from yourself.
This is want i did. First i told my self i really do not need Quattro because i live in So. Calf. and it never snow here.
But i wasn't going to let this stop me from getting a quattro. So, i went and test drove both FWD & Quattro again. I was really suprise of how the FWD handles (wasn't even a Sport Pkg). Its really good & it felt faster than the Quattro. The Quattro handling was even better but the accelaration had a pause to it.What i mean is it felt that it pause a little than it will go when the gas was step on. Hard to explain !! go test drive it !! Oh, both FWD & Quattro was a 5 Speed Manual and both where none Sprt Pkg. My decisson went with the FWD. So i ordered the Dolphin Gray, FWD, 5 Speed,MoonRoof, & Sport Pkg. I was really happy with this decission. I even save myself $1,500 compare to a Quattro with 16" Wheel,Dolphin Gray, 5 Speed, & Moonroof.
I think i would of pick the Quattro if i was getting the V6 Engine but my budget was with the 1.8T Engine. Why ?? because the V6 would have enough power to push the car & i don't think the 1.8T has the power. Maybe for the old A4 because is lighter.
Also, i really did not care about resale value with out the Quattro because i was planning to keep this car for a long time.
Anyway, good luck on your decission. I hope this help ???
