Question about Manufacturing Date..
So me and my buddy were hanging out tonight, he drives a B5 99.5 Audi A4 and I was asking him what made it a 99.5....he said any car manufactured in 99 would be considered a 99.5
So he shows me his door jamb and the manufacturing date on his car is 06/99......so just for fun we look at my B6 as well and I find that my car was manufactured in 06/04.......yet my car is classified as a 2005.
So what's the deal? Did the B6 just take longer to produce so Audi stamped it as a 2005 model?

The 99.5 in particular was a fairly significant change for the B5
One piece headlights, different side marker lights, drive by wire, white lettering on the gauge cluster, and a whole host of other cosmetic changes. I think they even upped the output of the 1.8T from 150 to 170 in 99.5...or that may have happened in 2000.
Not all the B6s had half year revisions. I believe the only one that did was 2004.5 where they got the painted lowers and some other stuff. 2005.5 was the start of the B7s.

well, the B7 uses the same chassis so really, B7 = B6 with cosmetic changes and features.
The B8 will be the new chassis, with the "8F" naming. The B6/B7 are "8E".
