Default Question about OnStar/GPS antenna...

Does anyone know if the "Fin" style antenna that comes on the cars equipped with OnStar leave a hole on the top of the car if it was to be taken off? Or does it attach and use magnetics like the "old school" cell phone antennas that mounted to glass? Just curious. Don't mind my antenna, but MAY want to take it off someday.

There is a hole in the roof for it - the wires run through it, as well as a nut to hold it on.

Default (you can't get an antenna signal through sheet metal like you can through glass with those (more)

cell phone and satellite radio antennas that use coils to transfer the signal, because the metal would disrupt it.)
