Default Question for Diagnosticator1

Hi, my A4 has the GIAC/big injector flash. I have the Awe-tuning boost gauge. Whenever I floor it, it seems like I get a sound that sounds like the DV releasing in quick successions and it seems to appear at approx. 22lbs of boost. Is there a safety feature releasing pressure at high boost that could explain that sound (almost like a rattling)?
Thanks in advance. (I hope it's not a stupid question!!!)

May be it's your boost gauge buzzing?

Default It did it before I installed the gauge...

If it was pinging or knocking, I would probably have DTC stored when I scan the car with VAG-Com.... right???

Default Not a stupid question. You can try connecting the DV control hose directly....

to the intake manifold, instead of to the N249 valve. That way, the boost pressure will be balanced inside the DV. Try that and see if the symptoms described are effected. Post back your results.

Default Should I plug the N249 end that would connect to the DV?

... So that I don't have an open end on N249 while bypassing it?

thanks

Default Yes, I should have said that, but it's usually implied......

BTW, the bypass will cause a DV related fault code to be recorded, but won't hurt anything, and should not cause a CEL.

Default I hope I'm not testing your patience....

Can I do a loop with the hose that goes from N249 to the intake mani and insert it at the spot where the DV would connect to N249 in order to close the system or should I plug each inlet seperately? I hope you're not getting fed up with the questions, you are dealing with a guy whose only mechanical knowledge of cars a few months ago was how to unscrew the gas cap to fill up!!!!!! I've been playing with Harley and Buell engines for the last 6 years but a 20 valve turbocharged engine is a lot more complex than a V-twin air cooled engine!!!!!!

Thanks again

Default Sure. That loop will work fine.....

And, no worries about your questions. I can be a little too formal or terse sometimes with my writing style, but, in my view, in general, the only wrong questions are the ones that don't get asked. My apology if you got the wrong impression from the tone of my posts.

No wrong impression, I just feel privileged that I have the opportunity to tap into your vast knowledge base. As an aside, I was thinking about replacing my N75 (my car has 154 000 km/94 000 miles) and I have read conflicting data on the different N75 (N75J, N75H race valve, etc...).
My setup is the following:
Evo cold air intake, GIAC big injector flash, 36# injectors, Techtonics high flow cat, Awe-Tuning cat back, Hyperboost DV. I would appreciate your opinion on what you think works best.
Thanks again
