Default A question for those who drive a little fast......

have any 1.8 T, Q, manual owners been able to get their cars up into and past the 110mph range. I ask this of quattro, manual owners because our cars seem to have a final drive ratio different from non-stick, and or front traks.
From 80mph, I floor my car for what feels like 15 minutes, at about 110mph acceleration drastically slows, rpms hover at about 5400 and I can't seem to get anymore speed. I have posted about this before, but my last attempt at a top speed run just seemed so strange I had to ask again....

I got the Tip and have no problems reaching 110mph, of course this is as fast as I have gone with her thus far. I've been waiting to make my anual pilgrimage to Vegas to open her up. I read with the GIAC chip the Top speed is 141mph.....I get chipped this weekend, might have to make a quick trip to San Diego via the 15 and test it out.

Default been up to redline....somewhere around 128-130 mph or so.

that's all we got with our gearing.

it's been my experience playing with other golfs that our gearing makes for much better "autobahnning", for even tho they are lighter, and some of them even chipped, none of them could walk away from my bone stock A4.

what were weather conditions when you did this? how many miles are on your car? sport package or not?

I have no problem getting to 100 mph. But, too much traffic to go beyond, should be no challange.

Default The top gear final ratio is ridiculously short on 5 sp....but 110 mph isn't where speed limiter

should be kicking in

Default i dunno, i've never hit a speed limiter so to speak, the car's pretty much done at that speed

anyhow due to gearing....

as far as just standing on the gas and letting the car run till it hits some sort of limiter, regardless of redline on the tach, i've never tried that one.
