Hey people. Just got my new A4 3.0 yesterday. Sweet ride - first time audi owner and lovin' it.
Here's my question:
I plan on running 19" wheels at some point, but I'm curious to know, what is the widest width rim you can run on the rear? Can you go any wider in the rear than in the front? Any help would very much be appreciated. Thanks, and c-ya all on the roads!

Width should not make too much difference so long as you have enough clearance on the inside and outside of the fender wells however sometimes going to a wider rim will require a different size tire in the rear and if it is a sizeable difference in diameter from the front tires,it might throw off the ABS speed sensors and cause false warning lights to come on and if you use your cruise control alot on the freeways, it may cancel itself out or not operate at all above a certain speed and you might think you have a defective cruise control system. Also you will not
be able to rotate the tires front to back to Max
the wear out of the them as you know the hi-po tires don't last very long!

Doesn't running different size tires on the front and back create an increase in stress?
I think I remember April saying something about that...

The Torsen can do some funny stuff with different size wheels. The only Torsen failure I've seen was a car with different width and diameter wheels front to rear. I think the max wheel width is 8.5 inches. Even then rubbing may be an issue if the tire profile is wrong or offset is not ideal.

Every single late model Porsche is staggered for handling enhancement, including the all wheel drivers. A fatter patch in the back just adds to more potential lateral Gs.
