I'm looking to get a new 1.8t avant. Either 03 or 04. Is it true that the 04 1.8t avant comes with a manual 6 speed tranny? Also do the 04's have those rocker pannels that look like rhino truck bed liners on the bottom of the doors like the new S4? And if anyone has links to where I can find some good pics of the outside of these cars that would be nice. Oh yeah, and some links to get some good specs also, thanks.

The body looks the same between 03 and 04, for 04 the 1.8T does come with a 6spd.

The 2004 Avant will look identical to the 2003 on the outside except for the shark fin antenna on the roof that is standard on all 2004 A4s coming to the US.

The changes from 2003 to 2004 are
- 6 speed manual on quattro instead of 5 speed (The Avant only comes as quattro, so 6-speed it is!)
- Alu dash trim on the 1.8T with sport package
- Satellite radio is a port installed option
- All season tires can be ordered with sport package
- Wheel locks can be ordered (port installed option)

You will not find any manual Avant 1.8T right now on the dealer lots, manual Avants are a rare occurance in general, let alone at the end of the model year. You best bet is to special order a 2004 one.
