but you can plug and play install a SAT enabled Symphony. The wiring to the OEM SAT receiver would be custom though. This is a good start: <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/threads/119038.phtml#496406">OEM SAT radio installed into '01 A6</a>

then you can plug the audio outputs from this unit directly into the back of the headunit. The headunit will then think it's a remote CD Changer. Thus the sound will be hard wired. Blitzsafe sells an adaptor to allow you to do this. There are many Satellite radio systems out there that you can use. Actually all you need is audio outputs, so theoretically you can hook anything up to the headunit that has audio outputs.

Keep in mind with a universal unit you won't be able to control the stations with the headunit and you won't see information about the stations on the headunit, thus the reason for a remote display.

The popular thing right now is to get the VW Phatnoise MP3 system (20GB) and hook it directly into the headunit. You can control the mp3 system directly with the headunit. You won't be able to see ID3 tag information but it does give you text to speech conversion of the song/artist information
