I need a radar detector that is hidden.
Which one is the best? Will it able to pick up the conventional radar and the laser?
TIA

If you're looking for a remote detector system, this one is the cream of the crop, AFAIK. It includes radar and laser detection, as well as laser jamming (the only remote system to integrate laser jamming). If you know anything about laser, you know that if a detector goes off, there is a good chance you've already been nailed. A reputable laser jammer will have good success in preventing the officer from getting a reading. The going rate for this system is $1500 installed, so it's by no means cheap.
Other remote mount alternatives are available from BEL and K40. Passport also offers the SR7 system with offers radar and laser detection, but no jamming. This saves you a few bucks with an installed price of $1100, and you can add the laser jamming feature at a later time.
Alternatively, you could opt for a conventional windshield mount detector like a Passport 8500 or Valentine 1. Both offer some kind of remote display module, so the unit can be mounted high on the windshield in a "black out mode", while the display unit can be mounted somewhere more discrete. These detectors offer radar and laser detection at a street price of $300-400. You can add laser jamming to this (like the Excort ZR3, which I picked up at a local store for $300 - I have to install myself) at a later date when funds allow.
In my opinion, if you can live with a windshield mount radar detector, the very best solution is a Valentine 1 supplemented by an Escort ZR3 jammer. Net cost would be about $700, and you would have to do some installation work on your own.

http://www.escortradar.com/srx.htm</a

Blinder, Lidatek, and Escort are the brands you can trust. There are other shady companies that came out with crap, and gave laser jammers a bad name. The three I mentioned are probably >90% effective at jamming laser signals, of course the closer you get to the gun, the easier it is for the gun to get a reading. Installation of the jammer's transmitting units is critical as well. My suggestion is to get a unit that has two front transmitters, and mount each half way between the license plate and each of the headlights (the two main reflective targets used by police).

Anything advertised in a magazine can't be that great...really. Do you think the best of the best is offered to any chump in a mag at the newstand? of course not!!

I would be hestitant to install a quality RD for fear that it may get confiscated and destroyed ($1500 down the drain). If you're going to go the route of the SRX, keep a "dummy detector" around the car for them to confiscate, just in case you get pulled over. Hopefully they'll just confiscate the piece of junk, and stop poking around your car for the *real* detector.
