Radar detector in XM shark fin?

Anyone think it would be possible to put a detector antenna in a (modified) shark fin? Would give you much better warning due to the higher placement.

I was considering the very same possibility just last night. If you could put the antenna in the SF there is room for the rest of the electronics between the inner roof and headliner.

Laser guns are generaly fired at the front license plate and have a beam width barely 3 ft. at best. The higher you go from that front center point, the less you'll pick up laser fired at you. But if it's being fired at you anyhow, you're just getting a few second warning that you're about to be pulled over...

Or a Lidatek in addition to your detector
There aren't many combo laser/radar detectors that will save you from a laser ticket. Gotta just keep a far eye into the distance, and hope for the best.
