Default radio problem

I brought my 2002 A4 in for 10k mi service on Friday, and for the last few days my fm radio reception has gone to hell. Is there any way these events could be related? Any ideas on what happened?

Default Have you recently had your windows tinted?

I've *heard* that some metallic tints can affect reception. People on here refute it, but I've heard this from tint shops. Just a thought.

a few other voices also said that the radio antenna portion in the rear windshield is on the outside layer of the glas so the metallic tint could have nothing to do with it.

if he has a XM FM modulator, he could turn it off. it will improve reception. otherwise it just could be the radio.

Default Do you have it set to local or DX (distant stations), tech may have hit button and toggled.

You want it set to DX.

Default I thought the Local and DX was only for scan and seek functions

My impression was that if DX is set then the radio would lower its threshold for the strength of a frequency before it will stop on that station. Local stations obviously would have a stronger signal than distant ones and I thought that DX enabled the threshold to be lowered.

Am I missing something?

Default Could be, but in the past the local setting was to prevent signal over load and attenuated ....

the signal, DX amplified the signal of distant stations. I find that my favorite station 30 miles away has definitely better reception on DX than not!

wow...good to know, I'll have to try that with some distant stations too.
