Re: Diverter Valves
For those of you with some experience in tuning, is there a difference between Bailey and Forge? Are there other after-market options? I've also heard discussion of replacing the stock one with the 02 TT one over @ cluba4.com...
The TT diverter valve costs about $30 bucks from dealer, Bailey $160, Forge $140-150...
First...does upgrading the diverter valve provide noticable (everyday driving) gains...and
is there a significant improvement from the TT valve to the others worth over $100?
And if so, are there any significant differences between Bailey and Forge?
TIA,

If you chip your car you should by a new valve, preferably a TT. No need for a Bailey/Forge....
MTM has a direct replacement Bosch valve 40 dollars that should be used. The reason you want to is you do not want to lose the boost. I am not sure if you will notice any gains unless you chip?
I have heard good and bad things about the Bailey, such as it needs to be rebuilt after time. You are better off keeping with a higher quality OEM peice.

You can buy the exact same MTM/Sport valve as a Bosch part for $22. :)
Enter C3070-41431 for Bosch# 0 280 142 110<ul><li><a href="http://catalog.thepartsbin.com/">Parts Bin</a></li></ul>

Thanks. I had the Hoppen salesperson read me the part number of the sport valve over the phone....
It is just a Bosch 110. It holds over 20 psi and doesn't throw DTCs on a 2.7. The N valves (114s) used on the TT throws secondary air injection codes on the 2.7T, but may be okay on the 1.8T.

TT DV's have had problems in the past...
that's why the Bailey and Forge DV's were created. Instead of the stock plastic/eurethane DV, upgrade to a bigger stainless DV such as Bailey or Forge. There is no real noticeable difference, but you'll know it wont break down on you. It also adds a louder "hiss" when shifting (I love that sound ;])
