Default does it have a fuse that blew?

I did the same thing, but I don't remember if it has a fuse or not. Other than that it would be hard to pinpoint the problem depending on how previous wiring was done. You should probably also check the amp and make sure that is still wired in. I had to completely bypass the amp to get my aftermarket head unit to work.

Default did you check the basics? Like is there power at the lead when there should be

Is it the unit that was originally in the car. If not then the radio code may not match what VAG think's it is. Not sure if that would stop a unit from turning on though.

Default Is this a B6 or a B5? I'm assuming this is a different head unit? If it's new you may need to get

the ECU set up to recognize the headunit (different security code). Also all new cars come with the headunits in "transport mode" so maybe your new headunit is in this mode and needs to be taken out of it so it can work?

Just throwing out some ideas.
