Default Re-post for Weekday crowd: Anyone go from B5 To B6 to those that are tracking the thread?

I was just curious since the 'ideal' models to get on B5 are either 99.5, since it has all the new stuff of later models, but still non-DBW....or 2001 since it was the last year for the B5 A4. But nothing like thar for the B6??

With rising fuel prices, I'll probably get another 1.8T, also since I enjoy doing mild mods. The 04 started the painted lowers correct? Also is there any big issues to look for when buying like B6? Like B5 has Control arms, TRES, etc to look out for? Last 2 questions:

1. Whats really the big deal about stronger/better chasis I've been reading? What is so doff about B6 compared to B5?

2. Has anyone gone from B5 1.8T to B6 1.8T? Thoughts, opinions, etc? Thanks.

Basically I just wanted to hear some opinions from B5 owners that have moved up to a B6 A4. Thanks.

I went from a 1.8t B5 sedan to a 1.8 B6 Avant ... Does that count ?

The stiffer chassis in the B6 makes the car seem more planted on the road and it is also quieter. I had the APR chip on the B5 and APR 1+ on my Avant - the B6 feels better all 'round. Painted lowers started in 2004 and the USP is great unless you want to do your own thing with a body kit, suspension and wheels.

The only complaint I have about the B6 is that sport seats are not available (except in the S4) and I had them in the B5.

Default I had an 01.5 before moving up to an 04

the interior is nicer in the B6 and it feels like it has a lot more room

I do think my stock b5 was a bit faster and handled better than my b6 but then again my b6 doesnt have the sport suspension

the 6 speed is a ton nicer than the 5 speed, in 6th at 3k im over 80mph

I think the biggest thing i like about the B6 is revo, it seems revo is the tuner to go to for big turbos like the GTRS. And you can have a full kit for the gtrs from eurocode for 2700 add an exhaust and fmic for another 2k and youre now running mid 13s

I owned the 97 1.8TQ b/4 buying my 03 1.8TQ. My 03 is more refined, faster, and handles much better (was loaded including sport pkg) than my 97. Less leaning and better cornering on the 03. Interestingly enough, I think the climate control was a bit better in my 97 in terms of cooling off car in summer on automatic, but in every other aspect the 03 was improved. By 80,000 miles, I went through 3 sets of control arms on my 97.
