Default rear brake grinding

I am going into the shop for new front brakes tomorrow, but just this weekend my rears started to make a metal on metal grinding sound. I didn't have a chance to look closely but it looks like the rear pad is grinding metal off of the rotor. I'm not getting a brake light and the pad looks to have plenty of thickness on it. Any thoughts. TIA.

Default the pads onthe inside wear faster than the outer ones...

or a chunk of a pad could have come off...if you groove the fvck out of the rear rotors youll get new ones

also...if this is a worn pad.. shouldn't the dealer have noticed and replaced at 50K service?

Default Rear pads have no wear sensors.

Best to take a wheel off and inspect both the inner and outer pads.

The dealers can be really picky about replacing pads- They require them to be almost gone.
