Default Rear brakes emit a "bed spring creak" when letting off the brake pedal at a stop?

Whenever I come to a stop and hold the brake pedal, say at a red light or just parked my car, the rear brakes emit a "bed spring creak" when I let off the brake pedal.

Bouncing the rear of the car up and down cannot reproduce this creak so I would rule out the suspension. It seems to be something with the brakes.

Is there something that would cause this type of creak from the brakes? Perhaps some sort of spring that needs lubrication?

Default I was just coming on to AW to post the same question...

This morning, after getting into work and coming to a stop (with the radio off), I notice the same bed-spring-creak while slighly "coming down" from off the brake pedal. Please advise. I think i saw something about this months ago, but could not find the post.

Hmmm, same here, I thought I read something similar as well. I'll keep looking.

Default I'm not sure I understand

Is it when you're holding the brakes, then very gradually ease off of them to get moving again? That's nothing more than the pads being partially engaged and partially disengaged from the rotors. If you're off the brakes enough, but not completely, the car begins to overcome the stop and starts to roll, but only slightly as the pad is still partially clamping on the rotor.

That's totally and completely normal. Happens on almost every car. Just let off the brakes all the way and you don't get the noise.

Unless I'm totally off base here. I've never heard of bed spring creak.

Oh, and there are no springs on the rear calipers/brake assembly

Default This is when I completely let off the brakes. Say for example, I just parked in a parking spot and

turn the car off, open door, put in gear and let off the brake pedal. I hear the rear make that creak as soon as I let off the brake pedal.

I know what noise you're talking about, kind of like a groaning noise, right? Slightly on the brakes but enough for the car to roll. I know that noise but this is different.

Default Also, think of the noise as bushings being worn out and you can bounce the car up and down to

reproduce that "bed spring creak/noise". It is very similar to that noise.

Yeah, its strange. Maybe something to do with the eBrake? Though I really never use it...

Default At first, I thought about the eBrake, but our cars don't have a separate eBrake

They use the existing rear pads/rotors.
