WTF, I dont know what it is about SoCal and rain...people just completely lose all driving skills during the four times it rains here each year. Ive had my car for about 1 month and some chick slams into the back of me at a red light. We pull over and the front of her toyota is a bit mangled (crushed license plate frame and pushed in bumper). The good news is I cant find a scratch on my car and she hit me pretty good. Can anyone tell me what the odds are that I have any damage behind the plastic...are the bumpers made to spring back or could I have some bent steel under there. TIA.

damage didn't appear to be much. Thought I could get by just having the bumper skin repainted. Brought it to the dealer to be checked and ended up with $1500 worth of repairs. The small shocks in the bumper had been damaged and needed to be replaced along with the bumper skin itself. Couldn't tell by looking at it though. Good thing the guy had insurance. Definately get it checked and good luck. Hope things work out for you.

Outback at a red light by a pizza delivery driver. There was no visible damage whatsoever, so he thought everything was in the clear. Then he found out the frame was twisted. The doors would not close right, strange creaks, trunk would rattle. Car was never the same. The insurance company claimed nothing was wrong with the car, and Charlie just wanted to soak them for some money. The car was only about 2 months old. Charlie ended up selling the car for a serious loss, never did get the insurance company to pony up.
I hate insurance companies.

to element between bumper shocks and body, they are designed to lessen impact to car and occupants. Once they are damaged they must be replaced, they only way to see it was to lift up trunk mat and you could see the crumpled part. It cost $2600 to repair and from a glance it look as there was no damage,
