Behind passenger seat. We used an ...
EvenFlo On My Way infant carrier first (rear facing) and then a Britax Roundabout both rear facing and now front facing. For both seats rear facing, we had to have the front seat up a little farther than we wanted to but it was still okay.

I put it behind the passenger seat because my other son is in on the other side. I think it would fit in the center though although I have not tried it. The passenger seat is fine with the child seat behind it but they do touch.
