Just open the trunk and look for a little round cover that needs to be pryed open with a screw driver. Then using a philips head screw driver remove the screw completely. Then pull the tail light from the car by putting your fingers on the trunk side of the tail light and swing it out towards the outside of the car and it should pop right out.
You can disconnect the connector if you want to remove the tail lamp assembly from the car or you can just undo the two plastic clips holding the black backing onto the tail lamp housing. It's probably easier to take the tail lamp off the connector. The brake light bulb is either the bottom left or bottom right bulb when looking at the back of the car....can't remember which one.

Keep in mind the 7528 for the "Stop Light" was replaced with the 7506. At least that's what Autozone's computer said. ![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I'm handier than 90% of Anerican men and in trying to change the left rear fog bulb on my now 10 y/o A6, I cracked the lens. So my $6 bulb job will now cost $138. Audi's "too smart by half," "let Germany show how smart their engineers are" (vs Japan which does everything as well, more simply) one-bolt design does not allow the side-most part of the lens to release. Because Audi decided to hide bolts IN THE TRUNK! My wife's Honda had two screws visible in the trunk and I changed THAT bulb (9 years after it was new) in 1 minute. This is why my next car is an Accord that costs less to maintain, holds it value better and is far more simple to live with.
PS. I don't think I've ever actually used the rear fog lights but the bulb went anyway, causing the annoying dash warning light to come on. Thanks Audi!
