LOVE the time description! And the beard! But McAndy, your A4 is so much simpler a job since the lens is not as long and in your case, Audi wisely placed the screw in (or close to) what is probably the lens assembly's center of mass. In my car, the screw goes into only the side of the lens assembly closest to the truck opening, leaving a lot of lens mass stuck in the body opening on the side of the car. This design probably works fine at the Audi factory but a lot "less fine" (!) once the car has had ten years of dirt and grime to gunk up the removal. I still say it's a case of style over substance but I do appreciate your willingness to help.

I'd like add that the outboard side of the taillight lens is held to the body by two little male plugs. If it's been awhile since the lens was taken off, the outboard side might have to be pried out. A screwdriver works fine, but wrap it with something so it does not mark the paint or plastic.

I just replaced both taillight lenses on my '04 cabriolet. One of the black plastic "pivot" ***** was broken off. I put a drill bit on it, and it spun off out the back. I put a little dielectric grease on the new ones, and the lens now pivots out nicely.
