I am looking into the a4 but have heard that the back seat is way too small. Is this true? How is it back there?

It's okay, but if you're like me and like your seat all the way back, don't expect NEone to fit.

The rear space is on par with class best in this segment, however, like most small executives and above, unlike family saloons etc, its really only designed to seat 4 in comfort, and the fifth passenger in not so much comfort, in the A4, this is particularly so, as they use the same raised transmission tunnel and floor pan regardless of whther the car is quattro or not, so the middle seat cushion and back is raised and uncomfortable... but for the other two rear passengers, its one of the most comfortable cars in its class!

The rear seats are quite sculpted and I think they might even be more comfortable than the fronts. However, I wouldn't even try to put more than four people in it. It's not a Caddy but it is considerably larger than the previous generation A4.
