It will be good for keeping things like chocolate from melting...
...but it will hardly cool soft drinks enough to be drinkable. Would be OK for a bottle of water though...

There are two air outlets listed on VWPARTS.COM...
The one you got, 8E08207014PK for $23.51 and 8E0820701 for $24.10. Just wondering. Do you know what the difference is between the two? I'm probably going to order and just wondered what the option was...thanks!

How exactly can that work if the glovebox is sealed? Also...an interesting observation
Won't it create a higher pressure inside the glovebox and therefore not be efficiently blowing air out of the hole unless the glovebox door is open?
Or is the glovebox not sealed well enough so the air seeps out? (That must be it).
BTW...great writeup. I find it really interesting that this is not standard equipment, but yet they still have the spots to add the parts. - plug and play. If it cost you thirty something bucks for the extra parts, it would cost them fifty cents to put that in each car. Don't you think it's worth $.50 per car to be able to add to the brochure (and sales pitch) "this thing's got a refrigerated glove box!"? Why would they have the spots for the air duct and then not follow through?

It's definitely not sealed...when I was checking out my own glovebox...
...I saw there were several openings in the upper area where the glovebox CD-changer can be mounted...as a matter of fact, you can see them in the pics NforS posted...
