Default Is a remote car starter safe?

I am thinking of getting a Compustar or Ultrastart installed, is this going to mess up my electrical system in the long run?

Default you suck tonight. It is safe on Automatics. can be very dangerous one manuals.

if it is left in gear and the neutral safety switch fails. BOOM! right through a wall!

You'd also have to defeat the Immobilizer, which makes it not worth it imo.
