Replacement Battery - Optima

Just wanted to know if someone has replaced their stock battery on their B6 to an Optima High performance battery. My battery is just about dead - even after charging, and I was thinking about changing it out to a good battery instead of an OEM one. Has anyone done this? Also, has anyone ever removed their own battery? After removing the plastic shroud, the unit seems to be bolted on to the engine bay and you have to take out this strut brace looking thing before even attempting to get at it. Any thoughts that you guys would have will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

just pony up for the stock one again and save yourself the hassle. The audi battery is a funny shape anyway ..like BMW and it seems to be the only one you can really use.

I just don't want to screw anything up. Does anything get reset when replace the battery? Radio? Central display unit? Etc?
