My 2002 A4 1.8T started acting up just as I was about to travel for the holiday. Cranked and cranked, but wouldn't turn over. Finally kicked on after several tries with EPC and check engine light on. Parked it for the week I was gone. Got back yesterday and gave it another shot. Same thing crank and crank and started up after 3 tries, but this time no warning lights. She idled a tad rough for a couple seconds but I let her run and drove around the block a few times with no problems. Let it sit overnight, and started fine this morning first try, no EPC or check engine.

Ran codes and got the following...
P0322: Ign./Distributor Eng.Speed Inp.Circ No Signal
P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301: Cyl.1 Misfire Detected
P0303: Cyl.3 Misfire Detected

Read a few posts with similar symptoms that claimed crank position sensor was the culprit, but I don't understand why the problem seems to have fixed itself, or is hiding for the time being.

I've only had the car for roughly 6 months. Could it be something as simple as spark plugs? I replaced all 4 coil packs a few months back.
