Default Re: Neuspeed software w Dual IC's vs. Revo with stock single side mount comparison...

David (Eurocode)

I would hardly consider Mark at AMS an independent dyno source. Anyone who has ever operated a dyno knows that you can make the graphs jump around by increasing the sampling rate for the graph printout. If anyone would like to see an example of how this is done, I would be happy to show you three different printouts of the same dyno runs from my 944 Turbo. By reducing the sampling rate, I can make the graphs look incredibly smooth. By increasing the sampling rate for graphing, I can make them look extremely jagged. This was a result of the number of times per second the dyno performed its mathematical extrapolation of HP from the actual road torque value it measures.

However, rather than argue about this online, I invite anyone who has additional questions or would like to discuss this matter to contact me offline at gwoo@neuspeed.com

Best Regards,
Greg Woo

Default Greg, interesting observations. As you've requested, I will contact you offline.

Mine was the only CVT that had ever, to my knowledge, been dyno'd on the AMS MAHA. There was some question on how it could be done properly. However, while I never did discuss Mark's methodology with him, the dyno graph still confirms what I have experienced with this particular A4 - a drop off in power over 5400 RPM. Admittedly, this could well be a CVT optimization effect, but it's what I have observed in practice.

It's useless trying to convince him (a waste of time). It's Dual SMIC till death....

Default A4MALITY˛(Joel) here is the dyno sheet you sent next to ours.

Thanks for sending us the chart this will benefit everyone here on AW should future discussions arise and help put the guess work out of the equation.

As you can see the software version is not listed like on the AMS printout so you don't know what you are working with and since this dyno sheet is well over two years old I'm sure things have changed since. But looking at the wheel numbers and the kw lost during drag it seems to be from a fwd car. I will get some fwd car dynos printouts from AMS later today and we can compare the amount of loss they had and this will help answer all of our questions.

Default very true. It's a well noted observation that some chip tuners market their software with extremely

smooth dyno curves which is misleading about the behavior of the program.

Default Once the numbers are in, he might just repent. Besides, I must protect the innocent...

It is my duty.

Default Thanks David.

I am aware that it's an old chart.
One thing to note, there is about a 1000 rpm difference from where the power peaked between the two. Following the loss line on the MTM chart, at 6250 rpm, the loss is at or slightly higher than 45kw. But this is still obviously lower than 54kw.

I'm currently in the process of getting a recent chart directly from MTM in Germany and make sure it's from a quattro car. As soon as it comes in, I'll post it.
It's all about improving our cars performance.
