Rough Idle at Start

Rough Idle at Start
I've recently developed a problem when starting my 2000 2.8 A4 when the engine is cold. It will not hold its usual 800 RPM, fluctuating between 200 and 1200, and sometimes stalling. This continues for 30-45 seconds with me stepping on the idle to keep it from stalling before it eventually settles out and preforms normally. Any ideas as to problem/solution?

Throttle body
Will more than likily be the thottle body cloged up a bit. Can be cleaned with out completly removing from engine just need to take off the intake pipe and clean with carb cleaner and a rag use an old wing mirror to look back into the throttle body so you can see where needs cleaning, after you clean it you will need to carry out basic setting on the throttle body to do this you will need diagnostic equipment if you have this you go into
ENGINE 01
BASIC SETTINGS 04
CHANNEL 060 for fly by wire
CHANNEL 098 for cable throttle.
Also check the breather pipe that goes from the thottle body to the two banks/camcovers this has a habit of brakeing. Did see a car before doing this carried out the throttle body clean and then found the problem was worse, turned out somone had put the wrong spark plugs in.

Don't spray carb cleaner in the throttle body
spray it on a clean white towel and then wipe in the throttle body. Excess cleaner in there can screw up the electricals down the shaft that the butterfly valve is on.
