Default RPM at highway speed?

Took my beloved whale to Rusnak in Pasadena for the 10k service. As luck would have it they gave me a similar whale as a loaner. Difference is that mine is 5speed manual while theirs was the automatic.

I noticed their was very smooth, especially in around town traffic. *Almost* more fun to drive. But the biggest difference was the engine rpm at freeway speed. Cruising in my car means 4k and above. Similar speed in the auto was under 4k, down around 3k.

Now I generally look at rpm when I drive rather than the speedo so you can guess what that meant for this wonderful loaner. . . . . .

One issue with the dealer for anyone wondering: they unhooked the mesh package strap from the trunk and left it in a ball, and someone left an emtpy coffee cup in the trunk. Anyone know why they were in the trunk in the first place? I mean, isn't the oil filter up in the front? (joke)

Fall is here, get out and drive!

Default Maybe they were being nice and checking the spare tire pressure and the contents of the toolkit?(m)

Ok ok maybe not.

As far as RPMs, just think if you had the CVT...

Hmmm. Was it a CVT? That would make a huge difference... no gears so it's like having a 6th.

The CVT probably would've dropped to even lower RPMs than that, depending on load..

Default Actually, I don't know the difference. . . .

I put it in "drive" and off I went. Car felt like it had definite shift points, does that mean it wasn't CVT?

Did it have an "S" below "D"? Was it quattro? Sounds like it was a Tiptronic...

Default Yeh, I think there was an S below D. Don't recall if it was QTTRO

like mine. I was living back east near Philadelphia when I bought mine in February so it was a no-brainer. And, to my mind anyway, what's an Audi if it isn't Quattro??? That said, I am seeing more A4s out here in LA and many of them are NOT Quattro. . . . . .

Default Yeh, LOL!!! Thought LA would be the land of play, but

the new job is taking its toll. . . .Too many hours working not enough hours biking and hiking. The missus is calling me "pooh bear", guess I AM a big load. . .
