Default maybe they needed to check what options were installed on the car...

The sticker with all the options that car is equipped with from the factory is located in the spare wheel well.

CVT (1.8 or 3.0, same tranny/final drive), 3K RPM = 87mph (indicated).

Default Or, our Honda Odyssey van (3.5 L V6 240 hp) 3000 rpm = faster than you want to drive

It spins at about 1300 rpm at 50 mph and 2300 rpm at 85 mph in 5th gear.

Despite it being heavier and shaped like a brick and having an extra .5 L displacement and an extra 20 hp and running on regular gas instead of premium, it beats the snot out of the A4 in gas mileage. And power is there if you don't mind waiting a second for it to shift back from the 5th cruising gear. I really, really wish my A4 had the same gearing as the van...it would be so nice to cruise at high speeds in a zone the engine doesn't sound so strained. It's an automatic for god's sake, so presumably if you step on the gas to go, it can always downshift instead of spinning along at an rpm ready for passing the whole time you are on the highway.

Of course, when we got the Honda I thought what a loud and intrusive engine it had compared to my flat-6 Subaru SVX. Now after I get in the Honda after driving the Audi, I think man this Honda has an amazingly turbine smooth and quiet engine. Pretty sad considering the A4 costs almost double...

Default Marc, have you noticed that the 3.0 seems to have a lot of rotational mass? I'm getting kind of (m)

annoyed by how slowly the RPMs start to fall when the AC is off. I'm guessing it either has a heavy flywheel or the counter balance shafts add a lot of rotating mass.

It's frustrating because it's hard on the clutch when I'm shifting fast; It has to pull the slowly falling RPMs down faster.
